Frequently asked questions
Answers about messaging designers, approving quotes, paying deposits, sharing project details, shipping, reviews, and getting support.
Getting started
How to begin working with a designer on a custom outfit.
How do I get started with a custom outfit order?
Browse designers, review their profiles and portfolio, then send a request with your idea, timeline, and reference images. Once the designer reviews your request, you can continue discussing the project through messages and move toward a quote.
Can I message a designer before paying?
Yes. You should use messages to work through important details before payment, including your design idea, event date, fabrics, fit preferences, delivery timing, and inspiration photos.
How do I interpret price?
Pricing for bespoke attire varies by designer, materials, and complexity. The starting price shown on each profile represents the minimum for their simplest designs. It as a helpful baseline, not a fixed quote. We recommend messaging designers directly to get an accurate estimate for your project.
What should I include in my first request?
Include the type of outfit you want, occasion, preferred colors, target delivery date, any fabric ideas, reference images, and your approximate budget. The more detail you provide early, the easier it is for the designer to quote accurately.
Can I save designers I like?
Yes. You can save designers so you can compare them later and return to the ones that best match your style, budget, and timeline.
Quotes, deposits, and payments
What happens once you are ready to move forward.
How does the quote process work?
After you send a request, the designer reviews your project details and can prepare a quote based on complexity, materials, and timing. You should review that quote carefully and message the designer about anything that needs clarification before approving it.
How do I pay the deposit?
Once the quote is approved and payment is ready, you will be prompted to pay the deposit through the platform. This keeps your payment connected to your project, milestones, and order history.
Why do I need to pay through the platform?
Paying through the platform helps keep the project organized and makes it easier to track milestones, payment status, and project progress in one place.
When do I pay the rest of the balance?
Many projects use milestone payments, such as a deposit and a final payment. The remaining balance is usually requested later in the project flow based on the milestone setup for that order.
What if I have a payment issue?
Go to the help page and submit a support request with your project details and a short explanation of the problem. Include any useful screenshots or supporting files if needed.
Messages, files, and project details
How to keep communication clear and avoid misunderstandings.
Where should I discuss measurements, fabrics, and design details?
Use your project messages for all important decisions. That includes measurements, design details, fabrics, color choices, fit, sketch expectations, and timeline updates. Keeping it all on-platform creates a clear shared record.
Can I send photos or reference images?
Yes. You can share reference images and project files to help the designer understand your vision, styling references, and specific construction details.
What if I forgot an important detail in my request?
Send it in messages as soon as possible. It is always better to clarify early. If the new detail changes the scope, price, or timeline, the designer may need to update the quote or expectations.
Should I keep all project communication on the platform?
Yes. That helps protect both sides by keeping project decisions, shared files, and important messages in one place.
Measurements, sketches, and approvals
Things you may need to review before work continues.
Will I need to provide measurements?
Usually yes. Your designer may request measurements needed for your garment. Make sure they are accurate and updated, since incorrect measurements can affect fit and final results.
Can I request a sample to check the fit before the final dress is made?
Yes. If you’re concerned about fit, you can request a calico (muslin) sample in the quote form. This is a test version of the garment used to check sizing before the final piece is made.
By selecting this option, it will be added as a milestone in your project to help you track progress.
Be sure to confirm with your designer that they offer this option, as not all do. You are responsible for the cost and logistics of shipping the sample to yourself and returning it to the designer.

What happens if the designer submits a sketch?
If your project includes a sketch step, you should review the sketch carefully and confirm it matches your expectations before approving it. This is the best time to catch misunderstandings before more work is done.
What should I check before approving a sketch?
Double-check the silhouette, neckline, sleeves, color direction, proportions, and custom details you asked for. If anything looks unclear or incomplete, message the designer before approving.
Can I update my measurements later?
Possibly, but only if the project has not progressed too far. If you need to change measurements, contact the designer immediately through messages so they can tell you whether any timeline or scope changes are needed.
What should I do if the final item doesn’t match the sketch or what we originally agreed upon?
Do not approve the final milestone. Work with your designer to refine the garment until it matches what was agreed. Once you approve and complete payment, refunds may not be possible. If needed, contact support for help resolving the issue.
Shipping, completion, and reviews
What to expect near the end of the project.
How will I know when my item has shipped?
Shipping details and tracking information should appear as part of the project flow once they are added. Check your project updates and notifications for the latest status.
What should I do if my order is delayed?
Message the designer first to confirm the status and next expected date. If you still need help, use the help page and include the project details in your request.
How do I leave a review?
After the project is completed, you can leave a review through the project flow. Reviews help future customers understand quality, communication, and the overall experience.
Can I upload photos with my review?
Yes. If review photo uploads are enabled in the flow, you can add photos alongside your rating and written feedback.
Problems and support
What to do when you need extra help.
What should I do if the item doesn’t fit?
A good fit starts with accurate measurements, so be sure your measurements are correct and clearly communicated. You can also share full-body photos (in fitted clothing) to help your designer better understand your shape.
For added accuracy, you may request a calico (muslin) sample—a test version of the garment that can be pinned, marked, and sent back to confirm sizing before the final piece is made.
If adjustments are still needed, a local tailor can help refine the fit. You can also ask your designer to include extra fabric to make alterations easier.

Can I return my item?
No. Each piece is custom-made, so materials and labor cannot be recovered. If the fit or finish needs improvement, we recommend working with a local tailor—especially if your designer is not nearby.
What should I do if a designer stops responding?
Start by sending a follow-up in messages. If the issue affects your order and you still do not get a response, contact support through the help page so the team can review it.
Where do I ask for help with account or role issues?
Use the help page for account issues, technical problems, payment questions, disputes, or anything else that needs support review.
What should I include in a support request?
Include your project title or code if you have it, the designer’s name, a short summary of the issue, what you have already tried, and any screenshots or files that help explain the problem.
Designer FAQs
Designer specific questions.
How do I get paid?
- Set up payouts in your profile by selecting your country and preferred payment method.
- Deposit payments are collected upfront before a project begins.
- Confirm the full price with the customer. You can adjust the final quote to account for shipping costs if needed.
- Once the item is delivered, the customer reviews and approves it.
- If there are no disputes, the remaining balance is released (typically within 10 days).
How do I set up my page?
Complete your profile (add tags as needed), set up payouts, and upload portfolio images. Your portfolio helps customers understand your style and quality of work.
Are there guidelines for photos?
Yes. All images must be safe for work and follow our content guidelines. Only upload work that is your own, misrepresenting someone else’s work as your own may result in account suspension. Focus on showcasing your work clearly and professionally.
How do I account for the cost of shipping the calico and the final garment?
Shipping costs should be built into your quote. When you send your initial quote, factor in the cost of shipping the calico to the customer for fitting. Before sending the final invoice, update your total to include the cost of shipping the finished garment. This way shipping is covered within the project price and you're not paying out of pocket. If shipping costs change after your initial quote (for example, the customer needs express delivery), you can adjust the total before sending the final invoice.
